Has the Christian Right Taken Over the Republican Party...

Has the Christian Right taken over the Republican Party, or has the Republican Party taken over the Christian Right?

Has the Christian Right taken over the Republican Party, or has the Republican Party (representing the wealthiest 5%) taken over the Christian Right?  It seemed to have started out as the Fundamentalists and Evangelicals forming coalitions and taking over the Republican Party back in the 70’s and 80’s.  But now it looks like the top 5% of the world’s richest (who are the sole owners of the Republican Party) have control of the Christian Right similar to a lion tamer controlling a lion.   They have to understand the nature of the beast, but if they keep them fed with bits of anti-abortion and anti-gay rhetoric, through fear, they can convince them that no one but Fox is going to tell them the truth; all Democrats are evil; unions are more than evil; all poor are free-loaders; all sick people will just have to tough it out; Obama is as bad as he can be; all rich people deserve big tax breaks and are going to save the world.  Their only salvation, of course, is to vote for Republicans.  Then they’ll all be just fine.

The Gallup Poll shows that as of 2010, there is 27% Republicans, 31% Democrats and 40% Independents.  These wealthy elite are going to spend billions of dollars to try to defeat Obama.   We have our work cut out for us.
